Martinis, Sunlight & Cupcakes.

Living off sunlight and cupcakes my days have gone about.

If you find yourself in Savannah, GA pay a visit to Back in the Day Bakery.
If you are too far from us they have a cookbook and no, I am not getting paid for this.

Neither is she...

Today, I am loving the silver on my husbands hair... It looks so good on him.

Embracing Spring season like no other and inculcating upon her the love I have for all living things...

Teaching her to stay pure and true to self. Around her I can almost smell sunlight.

Creativity is flushing and blooming in my head and the images and the poetry continue weaving themselves like magic. We are on the final two weeks before we make our pilgrimage south. Close to the ocean and a turquoise sea. I keep visualizing what our trip will be like and all the opportunities that I will have to photograph. We can't wait and each time we face some type of frustration with our daily lives we remind ourselves... Soon we get to swim in the ocean. In the meantime there are eggs that need coloring and more cleaning and purging around the house.

My latest obsession...
Watermelon Martini.
You know my love for a good Martini and its been awhile since my last recipe.
Wishing you a great Spring weekend wherever you might be...
Until then... Stay Sweet!

Servings: Makes 6 large martinis
  • 4 cups watermelon (with the rinds, seeds removed)
  • 1 cup lemon vodka
  • 1/2 cup cointreau or triple sec
  • 2 limes , squeezed
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (or sugar substitute)
  • Garnish ; pieces of watermelon, lime, sugar cane
In a blender, combine the watermelon chunks and puree. Remove pureed fruit and pour into a pitcher and keep very cold, even a little frozen to make it icy.

For two generous martinis, add one cup of watermelon puree, 1/4 cup of lemon vodka, and one tablespoon of cointreau or triple sec to the blender with three ice cubes and blend. Pour into a nice festive glass, garnish with watermelon chunks, limes and a stick of sugar cane.

For those that do not want alcohol, just omit it, and add ice cubes, a splash of cranberry juice, and a splash of lime juice.

  1. The watermelon martini looks yummie! I haven't been to the Back in the Day bakery...yet, but mom and I have been meaning to out there for sometime. It isn't to far from us. Looks like you all had fun playing in the dirt!

  2. The cupcakes look great! I'll have to add the bakery to my "Things to check out" list.

It's so nice that we are in official "warm" time now. The back and forth with the weather throughout most of Winter was annoying. Not that I'm complaining about the warmer temps. :)

  3. oh Lord - I've never thought of a watermelon martini! Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing & hope you're having a beautiful spring :)
